Job description
This position is located onsite in Dubuque, Iowa at the Dubuque Domestic Delivery Center. There is not opportunity for remote work and relocation to the Delivery Center is a MUST for this role.

IBM is seeking Technical Support Specialists responsible for applying expert analysis to provide support for z/OS (MVS) projects, changes and problems. This level of support is not routine or standardized and the creation of documentation explaining solutions or procedures is often required. Incumbents are also responsible for mentoring and training other team members.

Remote work is not available for the regular work day. Pager coverage and possible offshift coverage would be required.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Support problem and change tickets for work involving problem determination and implementation of changes to the z/OS (MVS) operating system and related products. These tasks consist of the some complex and non standard work and require independent thought and problem solving to resolve.

  • Help support teams to execute z/OS complex ISV product upgrades.

  • Help support teams in the correction of z/OS security non compliance issues.

  • Work with Delivery Analyst (DA) and Dispatcher to resolve identified green team/DA investigations.

  • Mentor and train other team members on z/OS issues and solutions.

  • Work to standardize repeatable tasks and steps across multiple accounts within the team.

  • Team members participate once or more a day in cadence discussion on team performance. They discuss issues or challenges, and receive trouble-shooting input /advice from other team members. They may also discuss team performance trends. Team members may also separately interact and exchange information with members of cross-pool teams.

  • Act as champions of LEAN, facilitate or engage in problem solving to create a continuous improvement culture.
  • Required
    • High School Diploma/GED
    • At least 3 years experience in MVS Systems programming support of the z/OS (MVS) operating system environment
    • At least 3 years experience in planning and implementing the z/OS operating system and related program product upgrades
    • At least 3 years experience in problem determination on the z/OS platform
    • English: Fluent
    Preferred
    • Associate's Degree/College Diploma in Information Technology
    • At least 4 years experience in MVS Systems programming support of the z/OS (MVS) operating system environment
    • Basic knowledge in Maximo tool
