Job description
The Summit Intern Program within the IBM US Sales & Distribution division is searching for top-quality undergraduate students with a passion for sales and technology for Product Sales internships. This is a summer 2014 position. Applicants should be undergraduate students pursuing a degree in the areas of Business/Management/Marketing.

The IBM Product Sales Specialist delivers Software or Systems brand solutions to clients of all sizes across various industries. During the internship you will work directly with Product Sales Specialists (either Software or Systems) to assist with sales opportunities at client sites and contribute to the day-to-day sales operations of the team. You will gain an understanding of IBM sales practices as well as knowledge about IBM's software and systems products in order to help develop business solutions for clients. Product Sales interns will shadow sales representatives on client engagements. Additionally, as a Product Sales Intern, you will have the opportunity to network throughout all levels of the robust IBM organization, which will enable you to form contacts and gain insights on future opportunities within IBM.

Applicants should be considering a career in sales and have a passion for interacting with clients to help them solve business problems through the application of technology. You should have strong business acumen and a desire to learn about leading sales initiatives and how to close business deals. In addition, you should also enjoy daily interaction and teaming with other smart and highly motivated IBM teammates.

The ideal Product Sales Intern applicant should:
• Demonstrate a strong passion for sales
• Have customer sales/service experience
• Be a self starter and have demonstrated leadership experience
• Display empathy and possess people and teaming skills
• Possess research and analytic skills
• Have a capacity to grasp technical details
• Possess written and oral communication skills
• Be able to independently travel to local IBM clients and meetings
• Be a Junior majoring in an area of business with proven academic success

This is an Intern position and all applicants must be registered, full-time students.
Required
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Readiness to travel 10% travel annually
